I watched some of the Obama and Romney Debate on Tuesday however I didn't pay close attention. But a few moments here and there I think I did realize how they are using a rhetorical device or two in order to win votes perhaps. For example with politics in general and including the debate that happened Tuesday Night, I think the rhetorical device that was used kinda often was the strawman device. According to the logical fallices website, the strawman device is where someone misrepresent's someone else's arugument to make it easier to attack (Rhetorical Web Page). Well as I watched a few of the debates, the word truth has been tossed around. For example, some politicians may represent their opponents opinion just to seem better, but overall it seems like a lie. On politician commercials, they tell you all types of information about the other opponent, some politicians tell the truth, while other politicians may choose to use the strawman device to win voters. For politicians, the main goal in using the strawman device is to win people's vote. Overall to become elected as the President of the United States.
