In my own words I consider plagiarism as copying off of someone else and not acknowledging the person that helped give you that information you just copied. Plagiarism is using someone's else hard earned information without giving credit to that person who did that work. I agree with the New York Times and one of their points somewhat surprised me at how they said it is so much easier to plagiarize because of all the advanced technology this generation has on their phones and computers (NYT). I also agree with the quote that was made on the NPR website, where they said, "The rules are to give credit for anything that is not yours (NPR)." For a simple definition of plagiarism the NPR's quote is reasonable. In order to prevent plagiarism, just make sure you cite everything you think you received from some else, especially if it is coming from a website, and/or book. I was and am told if you doubt, then cite the information. It is better to have a lot of citations in your research paper than to fail the research paper. Try to write your own understanding of the topic you are writing about instead of someone else's.
